Dear Parents,
In today's world, it's more important than ever to equip our Students with the tools and confidence they need to live out their faith boldly and authentically. As parents, we understand the unique challenges our students face in a culture that often promotes values contrary to the teachings of Christ. But we also recognize the incredible opportunity we have to instill in them a deep love for Jesus and a passion for sharing His message with others.
To support you in this vital mission, we are thrilled to announce an exciting new competition designed specifically for our young believers. This competition is not just about winning prizes—though there will be plenty of those!—but about fostering spiritual growth, accountability, and a heart for discipleship.
The Purpose of the Competition
This competition is built around two key objectives:
1. Building Confidence: We want to empower your student to step out in faith and share the gospel with their peers, knowing they are not alone in their journey. Through this competition, they will engage in activities that challenge them to express their faith in creative and impactful ways, whether through public speaking, creative arts, or community service projects. Each task is designed to help them grow in confidence as they see God work through them.
2. Fostering Accountability: As much as we want our Teen to be bold for Christ, we also want to ensure that their actions align with the teachings of Jesus. This competition will emphasize the importance of living a Christ-centered life, encouraging participants to hold each other accountable in their walk with God. Through mentorship, Bible study, and group discussions, your student will learn the value of staying true to their faith, even when the world around them says otherwise.
How It Works
The competition is open to teens in various age groups, ensuring that each participant is challenged appropriately based on their level of understanding and maturity in the faith. Here’s a brief overview of how the competition will unfold:
- Stage 1: Preparation
Participants will begin by attending huddle and small group sessions focused on discipleship, evangelism, and Christian living. These sessions will provide the foundational knowledge and skills needed to succeed in the competition.
- Stage 2: Challenges
Over several weeks, participants will take part in various challenges that test their ability to share the gospel, lead others, and demonstrate Christ-like character in everyday situations. These challenges are designed to be both fun and spiritually enriching.
- Stage 3: Reflection and Accountability
Throughout the competition, participants will be paired with mentors who will guide them, pray with them, and help them reflect on their experiences. This stage is crucial for reinforcing the lessons learned and ensuring that the children understand the importance of accountability in their Christian walk.
- Stage 4: Final Presentation and Awards
The competition will culminate in a final presentation where participants will showcase what they’ve learned and accomplished. This will be a celebration of their growth and a powerful testimony of God’s work in their lives. Prizes will be awarded, but the ultimate reward will be the confidence and maturity gained through the experience.
Why Your Student Should Participate
This competition is more than just an event; it’s an opportunity for your child to grow in their faith, build lasting friendships, and develop the confidence to be a bold witness for Christ. By participating, they will learn that following Jesus is not just a personal journey but a call to impact the world around them.
We encourage you to pray about this as we continue to build on this throughout this Edge year. Let’s work together to raise a generation of confident, Christ-centered disciples who are ready to make a difference for the kingdom of God.
In Christ,
Lauren Sturgill
