Who can serve as a Deacon?

To be considered as a deacon, a man or woman must have been called by God into leadership at Christ Community Church (Acts 20:28) and be a person of the highest Christian character according to the qualifications of Scripture (Acts 6, 1 Timothy 3:8-13).

What's the process for becoming a Deacon?

The person must be a member in good standing at Christ Community Church who has demonstrated the calling, character, and competency of a deacon. He or she should be nominated in writing. If accepted as a Deacon candidate, the person will then undergo a period of training and testing which is as long as the current Pastor/Elders deem necessary. After this, members of Christ Community will be notified that he/she has met the criteria of a deacon and anyone in or out of the church having a concern regarding the person‘s qualifications to lead as a Deacon will have four weeks to notify the Pastor/Elders, who can investigate the matter to determine if there is any reason to disqualify the person. If the Pastor/Elders or church members do not find any reason to reject the person as a Deacon, a final vote of the Pastor/Elders and church members shall be taken. If he/she receives an affirmative 80% majority, the person will be installed.

What's the role of the Deacons?

The Deacon team are exemplary servant leaders within the Christ Community family. They model servant leadership by working to make sure that there are not gaps in caring for the people and needs of Christ Community Church and the community at large. The Deacons will organize themselves for greatest effectiveness while continually working with the Pastor/Elders to coordinate their efforts for greatest effectiveness.
