Dear Christ Community,
The words of the last song weren't off our lips before y'all had started faithfully loving your neighbors yesterday.
A group of you helped serve a gentleman who needed loved on during our time of response. You did so physically, spiritually, and socially. You did it with humility and gentleness.
When I got to my car, I pulled up my phone and found a text reminding me of how our deacons had loved on a family really well this week.
Saturday, some of our guys took part in building beds for our community.
And before that, the team at GAP served in some incredible ways that we just got to hear the surface of!
And I am convinced that even this is only scratching the surface. It's only the things I have visibility to.
I marveled this past week on how God has preserved the vision he gave to this church over 16 years ago of "Going Outside."
People have come and gone. Some things have made sense while others haven't. Things we thought would work didn't and things that worked we never could have manufactured on our own. God doesn't just give a church vision, he protects it and projects it if we'll simply be sensitive to his leading and join Him in it.
Join Jesus in Going Out to Make Disciples.
I thought one of the coolest statements of Sunday was hearing Lyndie speak to slowing down enough to hear about and understand other people's stories. As a middle schooler - what an incredible insight! As humans made in God's image, we should all take the challenge.
Sunday Night the Lawyer family pulled up at the Holy Ghost Weenie Roast. We all enjoyed our time at the Brackens! As we left, one of our kids stated, "They have such a great place for people to connect outside."
It's true! But it also struck me that it was a great picture of what we hope to be as a church. Getting out.. connecting with people.. Sharing life and the one who gives it. Learning stories and working to intersect those stories with Jesus.
As it get's colder, we have to be more intentional to do that, CCC. Here's some chances in November:
November
Nov 6 - Glow Party (3rd-5th graders)
Nov 14 - Celebration of Lights (CCC Worship Band playing!)
Nov 20 - Edge Bible & Bonfire Night
Nov 22 - Love Shelbyville Day
Nov 22 - Annual Dinner Meeting
See you on the outside CCC!
