Christ Community Church began in 2010 with a small team of people called to "Go Outside." Founding Pastor Lee Webb had rallied the team around God's call from Hebrews 13:12-13 (CSB):
12Therefore, Jesus also suffered outside the gate, so that he might sanctify the people by his own blood. 13Let us, then, go to him outside the camp, bearing his disgrace.
In the last 15 years, God has faithfully equipped the church to continue to live out this mission: Joining Jesus in Going Out to Make Disciples.
In 2014, the church moved to it's current location where we are continually reminded from the very next verse in Hebrews 13:14 that "we do not have an enduring city here; instead, we seek the one to come."
It's characteristics of that city we find in Scripture that give us the values we carry with us on our journey to that city...
It's a city that's worshipping Jesus, depending on him wholly.
It's a city that's united around the throne - a people from every tongue, tribe, and nation.
It's a city of God's children, his family, full of love.
It's a city marked by humility.
We, like Abraham, "[look] forward to the city that has foundations, whose architect and builder is God." (Hebrews 11:10)
Because of these things, we place a strong emphasis on God's leadership through Scripture and His Spirit as he sends us to love, serve, and witness to our neighbors in Shelbyville as well as around the world.
Theologically, Christ Community affirms the Baptist Faith & Message 2000.
