2 Corinthians 5:20 (CSB)
20Therefore, we are ambassadors for Christ, since God is making his appeal through us. We plead on Christ’s behalf, “Be reconciled to God.”
I read that yesterday as we kicked off Love Shelbyville day. Interestingly enough, it wasn't the passage I had planned to read, but as the day went on and I began to reflect this morning, it keeps hitting me. We are called to be representatives of Christ in all we do and all we say. It's a big part of how God makes his appeal to others. In a time of year where lots of interactions are on the fly as we transition from summer back to school, the way you and I represent Christ could very well make an appeal to the heart of those around you. It opens the door to invite someone to be reconciled to God. What an opportunity!
Everything below is pretty exciting stuff in the life of Christ Community Church. But none of them are really about representing Christ Community Church. They're all about opening the door for an opportunity to plead with someone to give their heart to Jesus.
Celebrating with Daniel Higdon! God is changing this family one person at a time! And it's so encouraging to watch Daniel and Tyler and Kelcie live out their faith in front of others - ambassadors! Keep going y'all!
The biggest Love Shelbyville Day we've seen! More people than ever showed up and went out to serve and love Shelbyville! As you look through all the photos be reminded of all the ways we were able to represent Jesus. We want to keep choosing to serve our community because we believe that represents one small way that Jesus would love our community! Huge thanks to Katie and a large group of leaders who help make this happen every other month!
Kids going to camp
A bunch of elementary age kiddos head to camp tomorrow and I want to invite you to join me in praying that he would win their hearts and help them see what a life sold out to following him looks like! It's a big week for Krysta and the Community Kids team before heading into the fall!
Reverberations Sermon Series
Over the next 2 weeks, Kenny and I are going to preach a series on being and making disciples. We want to call our church family back to that core piece of the mission by helping you name where you are in the process and defining your next steps as we head into the fall.
Student Worship Leaders
It's been fun to watch the group of teens coming to "Open Jam" grow throughout the summer! They're learning now what it means to represent Christ not just on stage, but in all of life! Check out this article from Kentucky Today that tells some of the story!
Community Kids Volunteer Appreciation
Tonight, the night before camp mind you, Krysta is hosting an evening to honor and appreciate Community Kid volunteers! Let me join her in saying THANK YOU! Thank you not just for serving, but for representing Christ to my kids. We still need some new reps for this fall (Around 10) because of the last point on today's Top of Mind Monday...
Nursery renovations begin this week!
We're excited to get things underway! We hope to keep major obstruction to a minimum, but know that as we navigate the coming weeks, be aware of what's happening in the space. In case you've missed the announcements or you're just catching up with us, you can read the initial statement on all this here. This new nursery space is just another way we can make a space for families that expresses that we want to love them like Jesus would!
