Saying Yes.. to listening.

Of all the inspiring and challenging parts of Daniel Bright's story yesterday, I was most encouraged that the first yes we need to say is to listening to God.

What a great encouragement!

Get in the Word. If you're not sure where to start read a Psalm or chapter of Proverbs.

Be still and pray.

Just say YES to listening.

Blessing in the mess AND the Beauty

Wading into the topic of family always brings both joy and pain, beauty and mess.

Our Community Group collided with that again last night as we considered both sides. One group member was celebrating leading worship with her son yesterday! Another group member was seeing the blessing that God was doing as he restored brokenness in his family.

Y'all, don't be discouraged if thinking about family causes pain or makes you aware of the mess.

His grace is sufficient. His blessing can still come. Pursue his blessing. His way. One step at a time. One prayer at a time!

Orphan Care and Family

Being in Kenya was incredible! Check out Katelyn's photo post:

Mike & Sarah are working hard to strengthen and restore families in Kenya and continuing to share what they're doing while considering how it changes and shapes what we're doing here is important. God's global kingdom has so much to learn from each other! If you want to dip your toe in the water of why valuing family - even in orphan care - matters, check out the first of 3 short videos from the Archibald Project.

"Passion is a willingness to be in pain for something that matters more than pain." - Chip Dodd

Monday has a way of zapping my passion. At times, it sucks me back into the mundane and tempts me to seek comfort. So I needed to be reminded of this quote on passion. Maybe you need the reminder, too. Be in pain today for something that matters more than the pain. Press into family relationships. Don't settle for giving less than your best at work. Genuinely care about the people who cross your path. Live with passion!
