Watching and learning from true servant leaders.

This week I watched adults give a week of time to invest in elementary age kids at camp. I watched as multiple people helped navigate some building situations that were less than ideal. I benefitted from leaders who got up early to pray for our church. I looked on as staff members served one another to help with events and the organized chaos of shifting back into fall rhythms. I looked up 30 seconds after the gathering ended and chairs were gone. And I'm sure I'm missing other examples.

The point is this: I learn so much about being a servant leader from watching our church family jump into areas of need.

I can't stress enough how much of an honor it is to be a part of this body of believers!

Praying James 1:4 with you for Dr. Matthews and Shelby County schools.

I am thankful that Dr. Matthews accepted an invitation to come and share with us about how we can be serving and praying for Shelby County Public Schools as we head into the new school year! (Listen to the interview HERE.)

I'm just as thankful for the teachers and administrators who are part of the CCC family who are joining Jesus in going out into their classrooms with the indwelling power of God's Spirit!

If you've got a system of praying for people and needs, would you join me in praying for our students and teachers and administrators? I'm praying James 1:4 for them:

And let endurance have its full effect, so that you may be mature and complete, lacking nothing.

Let your faith endure Shelby County!

Back to School BASH and Fall Booklets!

SO many volunteers came together to host a great event last night for our families! Thank you! It served as a bit of a signal to me that fall was loading... enter the awesome Fall Booklets Rebecca made to guide us into a variety of opportunities and initatives.

If you haven't picked one up, do so ASAP! And while you're at it, make sure you've downloaded the new app!

Kenny Quotes!

I had several good quotes from Kenny in my notes from his sermon yesterday as we lean into the "Make disciples" portion of our mission statement. Let me list a few!

"What you prioritize you often idolize."

"What if we stopped chasing the good life?"

And the one still rattling my heart today..

"Comfort is a poor compass."

Thanks for challenging us while at the same time reminding us that Jesus has given us everything required for life and godliness. (2 Peter 1:3)

Y'all. Jesus has so much more for US if we'll join HIM in going out to MAKE DISCIPLES. He's a good compass. He doesn't just know the way, he is the way.

Listen to the whole thing HERE.

And then join us next week for Part 2!

"Growing" to a Group

Ultimately Kenny was encouraging all of us to engage with a Community Group - not just to find friends, but to grow in Christ-likeness!

So take that personal.

Check out the list of 14 Community Groups that are starting the week of August 17 and "Grow" to a group.
