Let's Go Summer
Last night, at the end of a full day, I was responding to some missed texts and asked how I could pray. I felt the response deep in my bones.. A list of kids schedules as we roll into camps and summer activities mixed with all the "adult" responsibilities of work and stuff (you know that "important" stuff). The concluding line was "Let's go summer." I'm still not sure if that was a challenge to bring it on or a rallying cry to dive into summer headfirst. Maybe both!
Either way, I'm stealing it.
Let's go summer.
Be present in all the relational opportunities summer brings. Move the mission forward with your words and prepare your hearts for the ongoing mission opportunities that come at you. Soak in the mountaintop moments of camp and long mornings with Jesus. Speaking of..
Mountaintop to Mission: the Ashley Murphy Story
I'm yet to find many things more inspiring and catalytic to a vibrant faith than hearing the stories of what God has done and continues to do in people's lives - and Ashley was no exception! You can listen to (and share!) our interview here.
She hit on something quite profound when she realized that the mountaintop moment of going on a mission trip to Honduras was really what prepared her for the real mission work of loving and serving those closest to her. That smells a lot like gospel-centered, Jesus honoring ministry right there..
Keep going Ashley!
Get to, not Have to
I walked in the building this morning and Alex Hagan (who helps clean the building one Monday morning a month) had commandeered his elementary aged daughters after a week of vacation to join him. I jokingly said, "Is your dad making you work this morning?"
She softly looked at me, hesitated and in her own words told me she didn't have to, she wanted to.
Lord, if you could give me a heart transplant, I'd take one like hers!
I'm so thankful the Lord is creating hearts of service and humility in our young people.
Let's follow their lead. We get to serve Jesus and the church.
Welcome our Summer Intern, Marideth Boyd!
We're excited to have Marideth Boyd serving alongside us this summer as she explores a variety of missions and ministries as she clarifies her call to serve the Lord! You'll have more opportunities to get to know her and interact this summer; including later this week on our website. Stay tuned! And if you see her around, welcome her, introduce yourself, and encourage her!
Roadtrips, Snacks, and the CCC APP
I opened yesterday's sermon with some chatter about your favorite roadtrip snack as many of us look forward to summer trips here and there. Let me also encourage you to put up a little "scripture snack" on your dashboard, too. Pick a verse and post it for the roadtrip so that when you're in the car this summer you and the family are attaching the Word to memories made.
Another "next step" for this summer with the in & out nature of summer is to make sure you download and utilize the CCC APP. The app is a great tool for keeping up with upcoming events, connecting to the various camp groups and serve teams you're on, as well as staying connected to the sermons and stories from this summer. Stay connected!
