The title of this post isn't super creative, but it was shocking to me when I sat down at the keyboard this morning that this is the last Monday of February.
Weird.
Let's make the most of it, CCC!
Here's 7 things trickling through my brain on the last Monday of February 2025..
He takes an active approach to life and leadership. We need more Tucker Keenes.. more "outsiders" who are willing to get uncomfortable in doing not only the right thing, but also the things they're called to. Tucker, I'm praying for you and Jesus to team up in guarding your heart. Keep leading us man!
Kenny spoke well of Josiah and Katie Ward - and he was spot on! Many of us were blessed by the Wards through their musical leadership. Many people don't know that Josiah helped start our podcast, The Backpack. He was a host and editor for years. Even more don't know the faithfulness they lived with in their daily lives and their care for others. They were, and are, the epitome of servant leaders. Go love Texas well!
The storying part of our culture at CCC gives us an incredible opportunity to celebrate with each other in the high moments of life! I love that people are constantly texting, calling, and stopping me in the community to celebrate wins - be it personal victories, instances of the Lord softening someone's heart, or just seeing breakthroughs in those areas we've been praying over for sometime.
But just as much a part of our stories as celebrating is the suffering. We get to share our sufferings together. We get to join Jesus in the fellowship of his sufferings. We get to suffer as a form of loving our neighbor - taking on pain so that they don't have to.
Celebrating and suffering. All part of our stories..
I'm excited personally because I have 1 teen and 2 on the way. I'm excited for our community because we get to "love Shelbyville" by equipping families. Check out the event on facebook, invite your friends, and let's lead our families well.
I walked into church this morning and the staff was already there connecting with people, planning for the week of disciplemaking ahead, and more. Y'all, we are blessed by our staff. I know I am! They make me a better person because they remind me daily what servant leadership looks like.
The flooding in Eastern Kentucky was devastating to so many families. In the midst of disaster, it's always comforting to know we have people we love and trust serving on the front lines. Laura Davis, Tyler Yovankin, and I had the opportunity to join our partners at GAP this past Tuesday for their food distribution day. It was the first day in their new distribution center and also the first day since the floods. It was amazing to watch their staff care for people and share the gospel with them. CCC, we have a really good partner in Eastern Kentucky.
Over the next month, we're going to send people on mission trips to Chile, Honduras, Eastern Kentucky, and Central Asia! That's exciting! We still have trips to Barren Heights, Kenya, and more in the works. Don't miss out! Get in the game!
It reminds me of the question J.D. Greear asks, "What if we could send more than we can seat??"
