Saying YES to the adventure of living

Melissa Ballard; what a challenging encouragement! There’s so many things that could be said about what Melissa does, but I’m convinced that her passion and ability to keep saying yes comes from who she is. From a family heritage of faith, to other women who have poured God’s Word into her, and especially her own willingness to submit to what the Holy Spirit teaches her in the Word. It all makes up the Melissa we know and love and leads us in living this great adventure called life.

What if we sent more than we could seat?

Yesterday was the largest single day gathering in our history! And while that is worth celebrating, it brings me back to a question we’ve asked in our past that’s worth asking again: What if we sent more than we could seat?

What if the story of Christ Community decades from now had more to do with the people who had gone out from here for the sake of the kingdom than it was about the people who were still sitting in the chairs?

These kinds of questions invite answers that only happen by resurrection power. Power that flows from God and through our weakness.

We don’t have to be afraid of our weaknesses. That’s good news!

Singing with the global church!

Yesterday I kind of caught myself mid-sermon when I envisioned singing Halima’s songs with her in heaven. Then in the afternoon, I received a video from the church our partners in Kenya are a part of. They were singing “What a Beautiful Name!” The very song we sang in response to yesterday’s sermon, they were singing too! It’s just an incredible reminder that we have been adopted into this incredible family, with a good, good Father, who has made us co-heirs with his son Jesus!

These words from the bridge seem appropriate to share and reflect on again:

Death could not hold You

The veil tore before You

You silenced the boast, of sin and grave

The heavens are roaring the praise of Your glory

For You are raised to life again!

The Lord who has not left us

This coming weekend we start a new 4 week series in the book of Ruth called, “The Lord who has not left you.” I can’t wait!

The book of Ruth is a story of God’s faithfulness happening at the same time as the book of Judges. It’s a story that reminds the church that God is always working, and there’s always hope in Christ.

My hope in this series is that CCC would carry a strong hope that the Lord is faithful to meet our needs, call us to new futures as we pursue righteousness, and redeem the parts of our story that are not what we had hoped they would be. What if this set the tone for a summer of anticipating what God would do in the next season of Christ Community as we celebrate 15 years in the fall?!

Let’s go!

Joining Jesus in Going Out to Make Disciples

It’s Monday. That’s our mission. And the mission is still the same after Easter.

Join Jesus.

Go Outside.

Make Disciples.

It’s a pattern for your day. It’s a calling on your life. It’s the mission of the church.

Let’s get to living!
